About the Mazor Farm

The first stop on the way to hell.

The Mazor Farm - BFC Israel - was founded in 1991 in the Mazor Moshav in central Israel. The farm purchases primates that are hunted in the wild, in Mauritius, breeds them, and sells their offspring to vivisection laboratories. Typical experiments on primates are characterized by harsh physical and mental abuse for years, and finally death.

Take Action!

About the struggle against the Mazor Farm

The campaign to close down the Mazor Farm exists for over a decade. It started as a campaign of the Israeli Society for the Abolition of Vivisection. With time the campaign became more widespread and animal rights organizations from across the country joined the fight.

General Information - Animal Abuse

What happens to the primates?

The Mazor Farm sells primates for vivisection labs around the world. In the past several undercover investigations into animal research have painted a shocking picture of violence and abuse towards the primates, including beatings, electrocution, and open brain surgeries without any anesthetics. Good Science vs. Bad Science

The Scientific Hazard

A lot of people are under the impression that without animal experiments scientific advance would be impossible. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth! There is no shred of evidence to suggest that animal experiments actually help scientific research, and the little research that has been done to evaluate animal experiments points to the opposite. There are safer alternatives to animal research.

Repression in Israel - Activists face indictment for peaceful protesting

E-mail Print PDF

First things first - We would like to thank all of you who participated in the international day of action against the Mazor Farm. It was very successful and many countries took part and showed their support for the campaign to the Israeli government. So thank you!

Now for the bad news. After few relatively quiet years in terms of repression of the animal rights movement in Israel, last week the movement was hit hard by a violent police reaction to our protest outside the Mazor Farm.

9 Activists were arrested on site, 4 of them were released after a few hours, but 5 of them were imprisoned over the weekend and brought to court on saturday night, they are currently under full house arrest for periods of 5 and 8 days, had to deposit bail, and are not allowed to contact each other - merely for the suspicion of participating in a protest.

Today the police has asked the court to extend the activists' house arrest period, in order to indict them before they are allowed to contact each other. The court did not accept and the house arrest will end today at 4PM Israel time.

On sunday night police raided the home of another activist, and arrested her. She was held overnight and released on house arrest at a court hearing yesterday.

Our lawyers are working round the clock to help the activists, but it seems we are looking at a long and expensive legal procedure, which will possibly drain our already dry fund supply.

We need your help!

At times like this it is especially important to show solidarity and be united in our struggle for the animals. Together we will succeed, we will win, and we will bring about animal liberation!

Any donations toward helping our lawyers deal with the situation and stand up to police brutality and political persecution, will be very welcome.

Until Every Cage is Empty!

BFC Israel, better known as "The Mazor Farm", is a company which breeds primates and sells them to vivisection labs around the world. Typical experiments on primates include harsh mental and physical abuse, which is justified by the false conception of animal experiments as vital for scientific research.

Our goal is to close down the Mazor Farm. We believe the best way to do it is to contact their suppliers and business partners, and make them aware of the shocking reality behind animal experiments.
